The data retention period for user and event data is set to 14 months.

We do not currently use Google Analytics to implement remarketing or retargeting for visitors tonicotinefree.ch.

6. Consent Management with Usercentrics

We use the Usercentrics consent management platform to inform you about the technologies used onnicotinefree.ch, to collect your preferences, and to maintain a record of them.

In particular, Usercentrics allows you to distinguish between technologies necessary for the website to function and audience measurement or marketing technologies that require your consent.

You can accept, decline, or customize the use of these technologies during your visit and change your preferences at any time in the privacy settings available onnicotinefree.ch.

When consent is withdrawn, this decision is also taken into account for the relevant technologies.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

nicotinefree.ch uses cookies and other similar technologies, including local storage, audience measurement, and campaign measurement technologies.

We generally distinguish between:

  • the technologies necessary for the site to function and to manage your privacy preferences;
  • audience measurement technologies;
  • technologies for measuring and optimizing digital campaigns.

Technologies that require your consent are enabled only based on the choices you make in Usercentrics.

However, certain technical campaign measures can function without third-party advertising cookies when designed for that purpose. These are described below.

8. Digital Campaigns

To raise awareness ofnicotinefree.ch among its target audiences in Switzerland, we are conducting digital campaigns in collaboration with the Bright agency.

  • These campaigns can be featured on, among other places:
  • Meta, including Facebook and Instagram;
  • Google and YouTube;
  • Snapchat;
  • TikTok;
  • programmatic display advertising networks;
  • native advertising networks, including Yaleo Native;
  • programmatic video advertising networks;
  • other digital advertising environments used as part of the media plan.

The platforms on which ads are displayed may process information about their own users when an ad is displayed or when a person interacts with it. This processing is also governed by the privacy policies of the platforms in question.

When a user accessesnicotinefree.ch from an ad, the link address may contain parameters that identify the campaign, content, or ad placement that generated the visit.

9. Measuring Campaigns with Adnatus

As part of our efforts to monitor and optimize our digital campaigns, Bright uses the Adnatus analytics solution, which is based in part on Matomo infrastructure.

The Adnatus tag allows you to measure the source and quality of visits generated by campaigns, as well as the level of engagement.

This measure may include, among other things:

  • the URL or the page viewed;
  • the original page or medium;
  • the date and time of the visit;
  • certain campaign settings, such as the campaign, content, or ad placement;
  • certain technical information about the browser or device;
  • interactions with the page;
  • the length of time spent on the page.

In the configuration set up fornicotinefree.ch, the Adnatus tracking tool does not, by default, rely on third-party advertising cookies. Its purpose is to generate statistics and campaign reports, not to individually identify visitors.

Adnatus defines a “engaged visit” as a visit during which at least eight seconds of actual activity are recorded. This metric can be used to assess traffic quality and optimize campaigns.

Campaign data is used, in particular, for the following purposes:

  • measure campaign performance;
  • analyze the engagement generated;
  • assign visits to the relevant campaigns and media;
  • produce the statistics and reports needed to manage the campaigns.

10. Ad Pixels and Conversion Tracking

Depending on the platforms actually used in the media plan—and only when the appropriate consent has been given in Usercentrics—advertising measurement technologies may be enabled onnicotinefree.ch.

These may include, for example:

  • Google Ads Conversion Tracking;
  • Meta Pixel for Facebook and Instagram;
  • TikTok Pixel;
  • Snap Pixel;
  • where applicable, Google technologies such as Campaign Manager 360, Floodlight, or DV360.

In the system designed by Bright, these pixels can be triggered only when Adnatus has detected an engaged visit. They then send a performance signal to the relevant platform that corresponds to an actual engaged visit rather than a simple visit tonicotinefree.ch.

According to the platform, the data processed may include, among other things:

  • the conversion or engagement event;
  • the URL of the page viewed;
  • the date and time;
  • information about the ad or campaign;
  • technical information about the browser or device;
  • the IP address when communicating with the platform;
  • advertising identifiers or cookies, when these have been authorized.

No data entered into thenicotinefree.ch forms should be transmitted to these platforms.

In particular, no information regarding potential tobacco or nicotine use, health status, or any other sensitive data should be shared with advertising platforms. This requirement is explicitly stated in the configuration described by Bright.

Retention periods, recipients, and countries where data is processed depend on the specific platform and are governed by that platform’s own terms and privacy policies.

11. How Usercentrics Works

The intended operation is as follows:

  • The Adnatus tool for general campaign tracking can operate without third-party advertising cookies;
  • Usercentrics transmits the user’s consent choices;
  • Pixels and technologies that require consent are activated only after the corresponding consent has been received;
  • No ad pixel requiring consent may be triggered if such consent has not been given;
  • The subsequent withdrawal of consent is also taken into account.

12. No retargeting

We do not currently use visits tonicotinefree.ch to build retargeting or remarketing audiences.

We also do not share email addresses collected through the contact form or the newsletter with Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, or other platforms for the purpose of creating personalized or “lookalike” advertising audiences.
