Why nicotinefree.ch?
Tobacco and nicotine products are evolving rapidly. Cigarettes, electronic cigarettes / e-cigarettes, vapes, nicotine pouches, snus, or heated tobacco products: it’s not always easy to make sense of them all, understand the risks, or know how to broach the subject with young people.
nicotinefree.ch provides reliable, up-to-date, and accessible information to help adults who work with young people better understand these issues, talk to them about them, and take appropriate action based on their individual situations.
The website is primarily intended for parents and other primary caregivers, teachers, and professionals in social work, youth programs, recreation, and sports who work with young people.
Who is behind nicotinefree.ch?
The project began with vapefree.info, a website focused primarily on single-use electronic cigarettes (puffs). In response to rapidly evolving products and consumption patterns—as well as the needs expressed by parents and professionals—the project was gradually reimagined and expanded.
In 2026, vapefree.info will become nicotinefree.ch.
This shift makes it possible to move beyond focusing on a single product and instead address the full range of tobacco products and nicotine products, as well as the major issues associated with them: addiction, adolescence, legal considerations, and the costs to society.
nicotinefree.ch is a project of the Tobacco Prevention Fund (FPT), implemented and managed by Addiction Suisse.
The Tobacco Prevention Fund supports initiatives aimed at promoting a life free of tobacco and nicotine in Switzerland and funds the development of nicotinefree.ch.
Addiction Switzerland is an independent foundation recognized as a public-benefit organization. Its mission is to prevent and reduce problems related to the use of psychoactive substances and other behaviors that can lead to addiction. Its activities combine research, prevention, and communication to make scientific knowledge available to the public and professionals.
Our Commitment
Our goal is to help adults who work with young people have reliable and useful guidance when it comes to tobacco and nicotine.
To that end, nicotinefree.ch aims to:
- provide clear and reliable information about various tobacco products and nicotine products and the issues surrounding them;
- to equip parents, teachers, and youth professionals to address these issues with young people;
- promote dialogue and critical thinking, rather than guilt-tripping or moralizing;
- to contribute to the prevention and denormalization of tobacco and nicotine use through a scientific, nuanced, and non-stigmatizing approach;
- Gather knowledge and reference resources in a space that is regularly updated.
Our goal is to make it easier and more natural to help young people transition to a life free of tobacco and nicotine.
